The Japan Machine Tool Builders' Association (JMTBA) is a nonprofit trade association of metal cutting machine tool builders. It was established in 1951 and reorganized to its present status in 1978 with an eye to ensuring the overall growth of the nation's machine tool industry and contributing to the sound development of the Japanese economy.
This event serves as a global business-meeting platform. Over 100,000 visitors are expected at JIMTOF, including about 8,000 overseas visitors from 71 countries and regions. The number of attendees at recent JIMTOF events from China, Taiwan, South Korea, and other East Asian countries, where brisk economic growth is driving demand for capital investment, has been increasing.
A range of conferences and programs are held during JIMTOF, including the International Machine Tool Engineers' Conference (IMEC), featuring research findings in machine tools and related technologies and various lectures and seminars on timely topics such as environmental technologies and aerospace.
